AVSS/NET Port 22 Requirements

AVSS/NET requires unfiltered, unproxied bidirectional TCP/IP connectivity on Port 22 as well as ability to perform forward and reverse DNS lookups.

If you are running Windows 7 or higher, you need to turn on the telnet client service.
Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features, Turn Windows feature on or off, Telnet client

To test for Port 22 being open, click on Start on your Win2000 or XP desktop, then on Run and type:
telnet lrd.avss.ucsb.edu 22
If Port 22 is open, you will see a line containing SSH. If not, you will get a 'no connect' message.
