Ron Williams has a baccalaureate in physics from the University of Michigan and doctorate in economics from UCSB. He has directed the AVSS Project since its beginning in 1980. From 1972 to 1995 he and Peter Chen developed the Maternal and Child Health Data Base a hospital-specific compilation of perinatal statistics emphasizing risk-adjusted outcome measures. He has published in a number of professional journals. Ron is married to Charlotte Colby Williams. Their son, Paul, resides in Mariposa, CA. Peter Chen has been one of the principal programmers for the AVSS Project since its inception in the early 1980's. Prior to his work on AVSS, he was the lead programmer for the Maternal and Child Health Database. He has a degree in Computer Science from UCSB and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with high honors. Peter is married to Katrina Tinker who is a CPA currently running her own business. Peter's outside interests include travel, gymnastics, tennis,  movies, computer games, geocaching, dancing, piano, and R/C helicopters (www.heligator.com).

John Marinko has been one of the principal programmers for the AVSS Project since its inception in the early 1980's. He has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from UCSB and is an avid cyclist. Other non-computer interests include downhill skiing, classic and skating nordic skiing, in-line skating, hiking and vegetarianism.
